- 1 cup milk (You can use almond milk or any non-dairy milk for a lactose-free option.)
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted (Melted butter adds richness to the bread.)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (Optional for slight sweetness.)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until blended.
- In another bowl, mix together the milk, eggs, and melted butter. Stir in sugar if using.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.
- Grease a baking dish (preferably an 8×8-inch square dish) and pour in the batter evenly.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with a spoon.
